A friend of mine finally got a few of these guys from a breeder and saved a trio for me. Looks like 1m2f, and I couldn't be happier. :D Great looking Cichlids, can't wait until they get much larger. Currently they are about 3"; pics were taken last night before I got them moved into the tank, so I'll see if I can get a few more shots now. ;)

Difficult to get any good shots of these guys; very skittish right now. They are in my mixed fry grow-out tank right now, my most random tank setup in the house, lol. Kribs, Bengas, Nics, Red Caps, Blue Dolphins,Yellow Labs, and Christmas Fulu. (Last two are in the two fry holders) Plus a few misc. things. :nilly: Once they get larger, things will be moved out. ;)

Good looking fish. Usually tough to sex them as the males don't usually start to color until 6" or so. I hope you get a trio! :)

Thanks, and I'm just basing the sexes off of what he said, lol. He was looking at the dorsal fins, and said that the one appeared to be a male compared to the rest. I thought, Well, with about forty years of experience in the hobby, maybe he's right lol. But guess I wont know for sure until they get a little bigger.

In that case, I'll take his opinion over mine. :)

lol, and I did look at the dorsal fins, and the one is more elongated compared to the rest. Idk, guess I can only wait and see to be sure. :)
Just a few more shots that I took not too long ago. All three seem to be eating and doing well.

I'll try to get some better shots later.

We had a male remain sub dominant for ~18 months. Thought he was a she the whole time. Then another Hap spawned in the tank and he came out of the closet. Colored right up and had a ~2"-3"growth spurt, the rounded dorsal fin lengthened and we cannot tell the two big guys apart anymore.
