I'm still waiting for my partner to get the 2nd 75g he's planning on giving me and I have already decided what i'm doing with it, but I talked to my friend last night and he told me he's done w/ fish and getting rid of his 60-65g Bowfront-corner tank and he's giving it to me.

1.) Anyone know the actual manufacturer's listed size for what gallon tank it would be?

2.) Any ideas what I could do unique with it that would work better in a Bowfront-corner tank than a standard rectangular tank?

* I want to say it's 28" corner to corner but I have no idea how wide it is measured across the bow*

so far I have found 2 in that size range - a 54 gallon corner- bowfront and a 65 gallon corner-bowfront.

I don't suppose there are any Rays that stay small enough for a 28"-minimum dimension tank, FW or SW?

Do a mudskipper set up in the bowfront.

planted with discus, they look awesome in bowfronts

...or get a shoal of Congos. They have always been my favorite tetras.

Not into Discus at all. Too much high-maintenance

No more dithers for me lol Exodons are about the only Tetras I like, Platys, Mollys, live-beaers in general or Tiger Barbs are more my style.

I was thinking more cichlids, OF COURSE lol or CATFISH but anything in the monsterfish or ancient fish forum really.....something new, or maybe just use it for my Moray and figure suitable tannkmates from there and eventually go full SW? It was a SW tank when my friend had it running - reef w/ live rock and a refugium, which comes with it, I believe

Saltwater?.....lionfish.
I have been tempted here and there to go back to the datk side and set up a meduim sized tank.Keep it very small scale as I don't like throwing away all that salt every month.

I attended a lecture a couple years ago, by a ray expert (I believe she is curator of rays at a Canadian public aquarium, and spends her sabbaticals with them in the Amazon) , her advice was noting smaller than 300 gallons for the smallest species of rays.
I find trying to advise someone what fish to keep, is like trying to tell someone who likes blonds to marry a brunette, or someone who likes Corona beer to switch to Guiness.
In that tiny size tank, I wouldn't keep anything that grows over 5".
If it were me, I'd do a geographically correct biotope in that size tank with a trio or quartet of <5" cichlids, and appropriate dithers ike
Etroplus canarensusand dithers like rasboras from India

or Alcolapia species from the soda lakes of Africa

or if Central America is interesting Cryptoheros nanoluteus with live bearers

Or
a Uruguayan un-heated biotope of Gymnogeophagus, Uruguayan dwarf Pike Cichlids and Buenos Aires tetras

to suggest a few
Just don't do something equivalent like the guy coming a BP and RD in a shoe box.

I really like that last idea the best....I have already ordered 4 Balzanii and 4 Pelligrini which I know 1 needs heat the other doesn't, but some of those Gymnos in the pictures you posted are outstanding.

My fish room definitely drops into the low 50's in the coldest winter months for tanks that don't have a heater, even though room air temp is around 65-72F, but I think all basements do that.

I think Pikes and Gymnos are among the the most intriguing of the new species I have started keeping but lemme ask you, what type of catfish and bottom-feeders would be geographically correct for that area and tolerant of lower temps? Dithers besides Tetras?

I know there are some Corydoras but there's gotta be some cats a bit more "manly" (dare I say) that I could do in that tank?

I have also ruled-out Boulengerochromis :P I have a 10 gallon reserved for a harem of those ;)
