hi all, first time posting anything. i'm not one for forums, but i wanted to learn more about the hobby and connect with other fish keepers. I have been dabbling in the hobby for a few years, started off with the basic community fish, i had a saltwater nano for a bit, but my prize fish are my two bichirs, who i hope to breed at some point. any suggestions and questions are welcome!

welcome fellow new mass member! Im in the same boat, this looks like the site to gather a ton of info before dropping a ton of money and finding out the hard way!

Well i lucked out recently as far as the dropping money part...got a 75 gallon tank and stand (with filter, cover, light) for free...just gotta reseal it. I havent seen the filter yet, but i plan on switching to a canister filter, plus getting some new lighting. I want a marshy set up for this one

welcome to mfk Hayley, Nice to meet you !

Hey Hayley,

I'll be moving out to MA in a few months. I visited for a couple weeks, but couldn't find any pet stores except Petco and Petsmart, and I don't ever plan on buying fish from there. Do you know any good places??

I actually work at a petco, and while some have a lot of issues, our Natick and milford stores have some fantastic people...Emily in Natick, and Leo in milford. As for LFSs, people near my store can also go to tropical isle, but I've never been a fan. I prefer lovely pets in Quincy, or uncle neds in Millis. There is also crystal clear aquatics in auburn, but I find them so-so. What area of mass are you moving to?
