Hey all, just found this place courtesy of http://fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/ [I hope I'm allowed to place links!], looks like a good site!

At the moment, I've got nothing in the way of monster fish or tanks, other than my obsession! :lol2:

Next week I'm getting a 4'x2'x2' tank, stand, filter & lights, which is the biggest tank I've ever owned! Thinking about making it heavily planted, but still open to ideas on unusual fish, as long as I can make the tank still look interesting, 'cause I think the stock-standard Oscar & Pleco tank, with some driftwood & a few rocks is really boring...

:newbie:

wellcome to the board and i dont think anyone here has just a oscar and pleco in there tank. What type of fish are you looking to get in what budget

Haven't really got any ideas on fish if I don't go for a planted tank...

My partner suggests I do a post-modern minimalistic tank focusing on a single unprolific species to contrast with his retro spotted puffer fish setup. Because we all know the spotted puffer is the epitome of retro! :woot:
[NB: I did NOT type that part.... :swear: ]

Money isn't *really* a problem, but I'm not willing to spend hundreds of dollars on a fish! I'd be too scared of it dying on me, which would probably lead to me being paranoid about it, which in turn would lead to me screwing with it too much and killing the poor thing anyway!

welcome
do a planted tank
a get some p-bass

p-bass in a 4-foot tank? ehhh no.

Large fish like oscars+plecos will completely destroy the plants in your setup, so I would either get the oscar+pleco or get the plants, but not both, cuz you'll just be hooking them up with an expensive salad bar. I'd stick with smaller noncichlid stuff..

i had 10 pbass in a 55 with my snapping turtles and alligators for a wile
thats a half full 55

now they are with my cousen in his 8x3x2

this guy doesnt sound like he plans on upgrading anytime soon, let alone to a tank of reasonable size.

ok how aboot discus ?

p45 did you forget to tell him how his p/c is low?

Welcome to MFK!

Hmm planted tanks huh? I saw some pretty cool planted tank ideas in Japanese pictures.

Get some long tall plants and maybe get some gars or Esox sp. they will look cool in that.

The Peacock Bass idea is cool as well.
