as the title says been like 3 weeks now will only eat frozen foods but none get a chance to sink down to him so i got sinking pellets but he wont touch them any suggestions?

why not get it into another tank where you can try getting it to accept foods without tankmates or whatever preventing it from doing so...if it is just not eating at all, it might be time for some metro or prazi

If your fish is tank raised I would do the following. (wild caught im not sure if this would work, although i have heard its the same process)I have some smaller shyer fronts in with my larger fronts and larger haps. The little ones would get a tiny amount of food compared to the haps and some of the more dominant fronts, so i put my pellets into a "shaker" style can and put in food all along the front of the tank, that way even the shyer ones have a chance to snap some up if they want to. I noticed more food goes in that way, mine clean it up good, but you might need to do more clean up until they and you get used to it. If he still wont eat anything but frozen foods then i would not give him any frozen food at all and he will get so hungry he eventually will eat the sinking pellets. By feeling bad for him and giving him some frozen food here and there your just prolonging the process so i would stop frozen foods totally. It could take a long time before he eats more than just what it takes to just stay alive, he might take several weeks till he appears to like it...

So the problem is he isn't getting food, not that he is looking sick. (IE no bloat symptoms, etc) Do you have a spare 10 gallon? Honestly for the really shy fish now I tend to move them to 10 gallons in my kitchen and keep them alone for a month of two. (I say the kitchen since it is where I tend to walk around the most. A busy hallway, or your living room would likely be the next best bet.) Over the time they tend to get much less scared of me and start to eat well. (Only give them dry food if you are trying to switch them over, if you give them both he wont really ever start taking dry food, or it will take a lot longer.) (IE I fully agree with what cichlidgirl said on the frozen food.)

I would also suggest to add a handful of salt in the 10 gallon tank. It just tends to help.

they will eat when they get hungry its when a whole colony stops eating you worry
