new gar feeding

ok so i have two new gar about 8 inches long and ive started feeding them small goldfish and minnows, even guppies <-- gonna try and breed some of those . .but my question is they seem to be a bottomless pit, how much do you guys feed yours at that size and how often?

mine about the same size. eats about one goldfish a day, if i am feeding live. Or he eats pellets and flakes. But sometimes i don't have an extra tank so he eats about 8 in 2 days. it is good to give them some time with out food. They will pretty much eat if they can. Like you said bottomless pit but they don't really need that much

I can't get my gars(12 and 14 in. Floirda gars) to eat pellets etc. and don't feel like waiting another 2 weeks or more for them to get hungry enough to try again. So I feed them earhworms for now and not very often. Probaly at most 3 times a week, even with 3 times a week the bigger gar seems to be fat. His stomach isn't huge but IDK it just looks like if he could wear pants he would have to keep them un-buttoned, lol.
