That looks like a shortnose. Mine is currently 13" and the spotted(florida) get big like 3'+ it is growing like a inch a month i guess it just doesnt seem like it. But i can hand feed mine! its awesome.

ya, i hand fed mine the might i got him... he decied hed rather eat the finger than the food.......

ne1 else?

difficult to say given some of the angles on the pics (don't worry, its hard to photo just about any fish :)) but i would say its most likely a Florida or spotted gar. since spotteds are infrequently available these days, and given the pattern, i would lean more towards Florida gar on this one. it will be easier to tell which of the two fishes it is as the gar grows and develops into a sub-adult. nice looking fish--

at this stage and given the new pics i would say this is still an unusual looking fish. the body pattern and shape indicate Florida gar, as does the snout length; but the snout appears to be quite narrow like a longnose.

i would still stick with Florida gar, on this, but only time and growth will tell in terms of the fish being more confidently identified. nice pics--

k, thanx, either way im gonna need a bigger tank :D

how fast do these babys generaly grow? and at waht point does it slow down?

how long do u think hell be ok in a 100 gallon tank? (60x18x22)

hard to tell what kind of gar is that., cauz the body pattern is same with the spotted gar., but the nose seems to be thin like the longnose., maybe we need more time to tell what type is that, but i doubt its spotted gar..

100g is fine alone for about 15-18" but i suggest move it 2 much bigger monster tank, like 200- 250g tank to achieve monster size fish..
