Got a new gecko sunday night (leopard) adult male albino. Well I settled him but all hes ate since then is two waxies and maybe a small locust. He's fat and an healthy, dead active but his previous owner said if given the choice he's eat a whole tub (25?) of waxies in a night, whats wrong? Is he just settling in? Is it too early to worry? His previous owner had him for two years so maybe hes taking a while to settle in or do I need to start looking at other things? Panicking my ass of atm so any help appreciated thanks.

Congrats on the new gecko Jessica. I bet he's nice and fat after eating nothing but waxworms. But I would get him to switch his diet as soon as possible. Those little buggers have a lot of fat content in them. I only feed them to my LG's as a treat once a month. I'm sure he'll settle in soon. How about some pics?

got pics but have no way of uploading them onto my poota lol, i have to do em by the ton when i get a mate to do it for me lmao. Yeah He's on locusts and a few waxies but 'cause it was his fave food I gave him them LOL.
So you think hes just settling in yeah?

Everything in moderation! Haha but some leos moderate things more than others! xD You should see my big boy Moose, he could probably eat a goliath beetle grub. LOL!

Thanks alot. He took some locusts today, which suprised me. I found the reason he weren't munching... he had scoffed loads the day I got him and weren't to be fed for a few days... silly me. Guess I just panicked. Defo gonna get some pics for you to see, but when I do, It'll be along with the rest of my collection more than likely LOL.

Yeah I know waxies are dead fattening. I only use them when trying to fatten something up abit, or to get them to start feeding. I don't think the previous owner fed him that many waxies, I think it was kinda to say don't feed them him much cos he'll scoff em till he's sick LOL

He's fat though so will defo only feed as a treat.

He's not obese or anything; just big boned :)

Congrats, he is probably just going through "nesting". A good staple food for leopards in my experience is crickets lightly dusting in Miner-all or HerpCal (I have been out of the herp-hobby for about 10 years so i don't even know if these products are still made) with a few occasional waxworms.

Take a ziplock baggy and put in a Tsp of the powder supplement into it, add a however many crickets your feeding him into the baggy. Give the baggy a shake and the little buggers should be coated antenna to toe and ready to serve. Kind of like shake-and-bake chicken. keep the left over supplement in the bag for the next serving. Bon Apetit!

Yeah I already supplement my geckos food reguarly. Main diet I feed mine is locusts with crickets less often and waxies ever 2-3 months. I don't really feed mine mealworm.
