Hey, I just got this new golden dorado and he is just like owning my tank. he is roughly 7"-8" and i have 3 Mono's that are are 8"-9" each and one red tail/shovelnose catfish crossbreed at 11" and one sail fin pleco at 7". The Golden dodo is keeping the cat and my peacocks pinned on one side of my tank and occasionally beating them up. should i add more fish like a 12"+ jardini or something? maybe more structure, I don't know. please help any suggestions would be much appreciated. enjoy the pics below (they are the best i could do, fast fish, camera phone, you know, blah blah blah) the dodo now has a more gold body and is getting orange/pink/red fins!!!!!

That's what they do man. You could try some other kind of dithers. What size tank are they in? A bigger tank could help. I'm not sure that a jardini would help. Although another big presence in the tank may calm the dorado down. I have experienced that before, but I've never had a dorado.

That is exactly what they do, they really hate bass for some reason. I got one to 18" and he was a terror in my tank. They get very big fast and need alot of room, honestly there is not much you can do to stop this even adding more fish just makes them more mad.

I had four and all they did was fight non stop. The only break from fighting was to eat and then right back to fighting full bellies and all.

I would change the senery around, add some more hidding spots, and if you do that then keep the light off for like a day then all of them can re-establish territory

tough call....I just got a 15" golden dorado from fishguts here on the board and it is truely a fish destroyer...lol I have mine seperated out in his own tank as my peacocks may eat mine due to their large size....but if they were all the same size I still dont think I would mix the dorado in as he will just terrorize the cichla and others. If you have no choice then add a ton of cover to give the chased a breather and somewhere to duck out of harms way.

putting a jardini in there might be a bad idea.. esp since jardinis tend to snap mehn... i would really advice you not to do that just to be safe and keep it less chaotic.. but if you really wanna add someone "big" try less aggressive fishes...

Hey Diesel, can you post a pic. of your dodo???? and I am yet to see a golden dodo that can't kick the crap out of a peacock! My buddy was so protective of his peacocks, he put an 8" dorado in with two peacocks around 6-7lbs. a piece, we were originally afraid his Peacocks would eat the little golden, but the dorado gave them a run for there money, he finally had to take the dorado out because it was stressin' out the peacocks so much, and that was in a 300g tank also with no other fish, just a turtle! no matter what fish, what tank, i see it happen every time, yet it amazes me every time, haha!!!!! i did re-arrange my structure, and added more structure at night as well, and that has helped a ton!
