i have black gravel in my P-Bass tank, and i'm thinking of changing it to red gravel, will that hurt the chemistry of my tank and cause problems, like ick or stress out my fish.......Thx in advance.

Why do you want red gravel?:irked: Looks ugly imo. And black gravel will bring out your pbass' colors better than red gravel.

You can't just say red gravel if you want us to tell you the chemistry of it. If you want us to tell you if it would be fine or not, you have to tell us what type of rock it is. If your talking about a red gravel for an aquarium, then it should be fine, but if it is from a hardware or landscape supplies shop, then i'd be wary.

I agree with above too, red gravel is :thumbsdow, black gravel is

I like the idea of black gravel also. However, if you do choose to change, it really depends on the substrate itself. As for bacteria, most of it should be in your filtration, rather than your gravel, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. But what's it made of? This tells a lot.

It's aquarium gravel, and the reason for the change is, that my black aquarium gravel has faded, and i just wanted to replace it with something new, remember, change is good..........Thx

The main reason for the color change is, that my black gravel is fading and looks like white crapp, but you know what they say, change is good.......

just rinse it extremely well my mom put some in w/o rinsing it and her auarium turned orange

it wont alter your tanks chemistry but expect a fluxuation of beneficial bacteria and a sudden uprise of ammonia/nitrates.
