New Green Terror

Got my hands on a 120g and decided to start adding to it. Saw a beautiful Green Terror and picked him up last night. Not really sure if he is really a he or a she despite searching google and old posts. I'm leaning towards male though? About 4 inches now and in quarantine. Looking forward to seeing him/her grow!

I vote male. Also very interesting white at the tip of his tale very cool. I also the purple ish color it’s got going on. Kinda unique

Awesome, thank you for your input Mrs. I was leaning towards male by behavior and anal fin being longer then dorsal but I have never sexed big cichlids . Just my Bolivian Rams and they had very obvious differences in papilla.

Tristan, thank you that's what I love too, and the attitude. S/he has a ton of sass and personality. Watches everything that is going on!

The anal fine being shorter is one of the characteristics that makes me lean towards female. Others include; blue smearing under the jaw, lack of color/spangles in the fins, thin silver ban on the tail, the forehead is more slanted then I’d expect in a male that size, the body is also lacking in color that males typically have.
The vent is really tough. It *looks* like it is female, but it’s very hard to tell. I’m not the best at venting unless it’s really obvious. Lol

Lol yea the Bolivians are pretty easy in regards to venting but this one has me stumped. Regardless she is a looker and I am really happy to have her. She was queen of the tank at the LFS and now here too. I will keep an eye out for a male and be a little more observant in regards to what you said. Also a couple more pictures because I can't help but share!

Share away! Terrors are my absolute favorite so I can never get enough of seeing them

I got my female silver earlier this year and I still kick myself for not grabbing the male too. Silvers aren’t near as common as the golds in my area, but they are just as gorgeous in their own right.

I can understand why! I've been eyeing Green Terrors for awhile now. I love their looks and heard great things about their personalities but now I am head over heels about them too. She is such a character. I've only had her for 24 hours and she watches everything and has completely owned the tank she is in, temporary or not she rules it!
