I bought these two fish as Green Terrors. At first, I thought maybe true Green Terrors, but after reading a little, it seems it is likely I have Silversaums since true GTs are so rare in the hobby. I hope I have one male and one female, and that they pair up.

Here are the best pics I could get for now:

Can you guys tell sex at this size??

The male in the last three pics (I hope male) has attitude. He flares his gills at me, much like a firemouth. He chases the smaller one around, but they swim together a lot, so I hope they will be able to live together.

they look good ;)

first pic. upper fish. i don't think it is a gt, but something simalar, like an acara

They are cute lil guys GL with them.

They both came in the same tank that only had GTs, or supposedly GTs. They were all the same size, and it seemed they all came to the store together. Also, that black bar that is between its eye and black spot does not usually show, only when it is stressed.

Any other thoughts on this. Does anyone agree with mudskipper, or do you think it is a GT?

Both GT's... One is male, One is female..............

but..."Sabre_Tooth"... there is NO way that they sell "True" GT's in your area, because the "true" GT has not been in the hobby for many years. so they are probably some other domesticated species of GT(like the Gold Saum).

nice GT's BTW they should pair up soon. B/C you deffenetly have 1 male and 1 female.

As other posters stated, you have a female and male of the A. sp "Gold Saum".

The true terrors are actually back in the hobby now. I have 5 F1 juvi's growing out. They were bred in the beginning of the year in New Orleans, and are now across the US. Hopefully they will be available to all in the next couple of years.

Excellent read on the origin of terrors...
