new GT!!!!

I got my new green terror yesterday he's only about 2 inches he's the only cichlid I own and now I understand why people love them so much , but I also have a question how fast do they grow?

!!! I have another question, at petsmart the girl said that female gt's are darker when they are ready to breed so I asked her if the dark ones were girls she said yes , but then I thought how could they be ready to breed if they are only 1-inch? does she know what shes talking about or has anyone else heard this before?

ummmmmm...... you sure you got a GT/Gold Saum?
It is very possible that if you got a darker "GT" you may have gotten a JD instead.

I picked the largest lighter shaded one in the tank which she told me was a male it doesn't look like a jd at all

petsmart employees are usually pretty uneducated about the procucts they sell, just google green terror for a positive ID, probably too early to sex

Well to be perfectly honest, most of the darker GT's I've seen have actually been female so it probably wasn't terrible advice.

The only way I've tried to guess young GT's sex is by picking one that already has long trailers on his fins and a nuchal hump. Then I'm 80% hopeful that it'll turn out to be a male haha.
