Hey guys, I figured I would post 1st and say hello before anything else.
Well my name is Eric, im from manchester, ct. I just upgraded my 45 gallon tank to a 125 gallon about a week ago. I have the marineland c360 filter.

As for the fish I have:
red devil (5 inches)
pacu (6)
Oscar (5)
Jewel Cichlid (4)
2 baby convicts (about an inch)
angel fish... the girlfriends lol
spotted puffer
and a mosaic gar (7)

I can't wait till they get larger ill tell you that much. Anyways, its good to be a part of this community.

Thanks,

Eric

6 pacu and a shovel nose cat in a 125.... Oh dear!

Eric, I am up in Jewett City, not far from you. I currently have 3 pacu that I have now had for 17,12, and 2 months. The little guy is over a foot and the older two are 20+ inches long. If you want to see what you are up against, let me know.

Your pacu WILL outgrow that tank in less than 6 months. And they will run you at a very high risk of 125 gallons of water on the floor when they do. They are called tank busters for a reason. You really need to rethink putting 6 of them in such a small tank. The two I have had the longest out grew the 210 they were in and broke its lid by jumping. I can't even imagine having 6 of them, let alone 6 in a 125.

I hope you have bigger plans.

oh no.. i have 1 thats about 6 inches lol

one of my friends had 1 that was about 14'' in a 75 long. had to get rid of him because of lack of space. I figure when he does get too large ill bring him down to exotic in east hartford.

Please house that puffer in a separate BW tank:

Most of those fish will get large enough to try & eat that puffer & then both will die.

You really need to look into the adult sizes of all the fish you have & the minimum tank sizes recommended for those species. Many of the ones you have there are high waste producers & fast growers.

At 6" it will grow an inch a month, your 125 won't last as long as you are hoping it will. I am serious, if you want to see what 1 year old pacu look like, I have them. I doubt your 125 will stay a healthy place for it more than 7-8 months.

There is the other issue of their swimming speeds that you will soon learn about. They are called tank busters for a reason. The #1 reason I took my guys out of the 210 they were in was because they broke the lid that was made of 3/8" glass while jumping! Go ahead and measure the glass thickness of your tank, the fish that broke my lid was about 16" long when he did it. The sides of the 210 were only 1/2" glass and I didn't want 210 gallons of water on the floor.
