Hi everyone,

This is my first post, and I was hoping to get a little advice from everyone. Long story short, I am getting back into the hobby.
When I was younger I started out with 3 RBP, but between partying, destructive friends, and low responsibility it became one. The alpha that survived I gave to an acquaintance that had a 40g and haven’t seen him since. Now that I’m a little older and want to actually enjoy the fish, not just look at me “I have a piranha”, I am stuck deciding on a couple different breeds.
First off I purchased a used 75g glass tank (48x22x18) with a stand off craigslist, in great shape. I will be running an Xp3 filter, and I am leaning towards pool filter sand (any thoughts on this would be great as I’m still researching its positives and negatives). At this point I don’t plan on getting a larger tank, but who knows down the road, the wife wants to make our own offspring so I will probably have less free time on my hands.

Now to the real meat of my question, I am having a tough time deciding between:

- S. Rhombeus probably gold diamond, by himself of course.
- Hoplias malabaricus or Erythrinus erythrinus maybe with a larger Pleco.
- Three Caribe, I really like there activity and when they shoal.

Any input about the fish, tank size, or substrate setup from you guys would be awesome, hopefully I get some replies as I will be making my purchase within a week or two. I hate making uneducated decisions.

Also I would like to say great community here, and thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to read or post with feedback.

Yeah man P's got me into the hobby too. I saw RBP at the pet store for $40 for 3 and was like hellllll yeah, they are going in my 20 gallon in my room. Haha interesting way to get into the hobby. Id like to think im alot more responsible now haha.
Btw, you would probably get alot more responses if you posted in the piranha section. Personally I would go with 5-6 Natts in a 75, better personality. or 3-4 Cariba.
Pool filter sand and and Xp3 are about the best you can get. Great for p's because its easy to clean.

The more I read about pool filter sand the more I like it, wish I could find some darker colored stuff though.

I am leaning towards the Caribe, I just love piranha in shoals. The diamond Rhoms just look badass IMHO, but they dont have the lively light up the room personality. Wolf fish are sweet also, but not very entertaining unless motivated by some goodies.
