Hi guys, good to be a member here. I already have a 55 gallon, but I'm about to begin my first big aquarium project. I saw a thread of the guy who built a beautiful stand for his 150 for his workout room, and I'm going to base my stand off of his, but with a matching canopy on a 125. I plan on painting the tank black and using pool filter sand. For filtration, I'm thinking 2 Eheim Classics with 2 sponge filters hooked up to power heads. I want some of those smooth stones, plenty of huge drift wood pieces, as well as the stones you stack for caves. For fish, I know I want a BGK. If I can put some loaches and a pleco in as well I will be happy. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, Tim

welcome to mfk.. you will learn everything you need to know and more..your in the right hands now.. lol

It sounds like you have a very Solid Concept. With those 2 Classics, I don't really see a need for the sponge filters and power heads unless your trying to increase water movement. What are you thinking about doing for Lighting? Plants? Loaches would be great, And if your going to have a Bunch of Driftwood, and a BGK. Then why not set-up a Pleco Community? Loaches for Flash. Plecos for Class?

It was going to be for water movement, yes. But I think I changed my mind...Think I may grab the best Professional series and do 2 of the hang on back Eheims. Income taxes in 2 weeks...Wife already said I could grab the tank and wood for the stand!

Welcome to mfk! If the appearance of sponges doesn't bother you I'd add em. They may not be the most efficient high tech filter, but I ran my 500g for 30 hrs on 2xxl sponges and battery air pumps when my power was out and everything was ok. Also help when I do water changes, my sump is off for 3hrs so they keep some movement going. I always like having backup, and if I setup a new tank, in goes a sponge filter and bam! Never cycle again(careful)

Found out the filters I'll be grabbing are the 2075 and 2 of the 2042s. My dad grabbed some nice Fluval heaters, but I'm not sure if I'll get those or stay with Eheim. For lights, I'm getting 2 of the Beam Works LED setups. My dad ordered them as well for his 125. Trying to pick out my aquascaping will be a chore, as I'm going for as sleek as I can get with a BGK.
