Have you tested your water?
Yes
If I did not test my water...
  1. ...I recognize that I will likely be asked to do a test, and that water tests are critical for solving freshwater health problems.
Do you do water changes?
Yes

I’m starting to keep koi, have a 2000 gallon outdoor tank. My test results according to API master test kit is,
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
Ph is 8
I did have a small nitrite spike but used prime until it was back to zero.
All fish were purchased from NDK,which I am now finding out was a mistake. I have lost one fish already, but I think that was in part to me being new a d mis using treatments. Already done the Pima/Melafix waste of money!
I have used BSDT (malachite green and Formalin one treatment. And did one Prazi treatment.
Have done 3 50% water changes using prime along with water filter as well on refill.
It started with one fish getting a red spot, then same fish mouth rot,and then same fish died, but I think it was partly my fault on using PP dip that was too strong!
Now one fish has a large sore getting worse daily, and have noticed another fish starting a small spot just as the others started.
Any help,tips,methods please fire away!!
I do t want to loose all my fish.
The only thing I have not tried yet is a lot of salt,I’ve only used 2 cups, the salt just bothers me,but I’m sure I need to get over it!
Will try to figure out how to post pics ASAP!
Thank you all in advance for your help

I will also note one of the feeder goldfish used to cycle the tank has turned from brilliant gold to almost white!! But swims and eats as he normally has the entire time.

How high was the nitrite spike? You may have addressed the nitrite spike too late, and you are now seeing secondary bacterial infections. In the future, you can prevent further nitrite poisoning using salt. I would treat with kanamycin sulfate since it is readily absorbed through the skin.

Little over 4 months. I did watch the ammonia spike and fall, then the nitrites spike and fall while I had the feeder goldfish and that was their purpose.
Also, the fish are all very young still the largest is only 9” long.

It was a pretty good spike .50 ppm!!!
I would say 1-3 days,I can’t really remember.
move been fighting this for almost a month since the first fish showed an issue. And the first I saw was white fuzz on his mouth, the next day it was gone. The nitrite spike was long after the first fish showed issues weeks!
But they were bought from Next Day Koi and I have since learned they do not have good fish keeping practices from many sources!!
And I’m sorry but I’m remembering things more now as I go!
I did a scrape and found an infestation of fast movers,I think we’re costia??? Not 100% but as fast as they were moving that was my guess. And that’s why I did the PP dip. Also found a piece of floating slime one guessing came from a fish and found a critter in it I’ve never seen and was told it was a rotifer and was harmless. But I do have video of it also.

This was from some poop floating!
Not sure if these are eggs or not??!!!

Nitrates being zero is pretty improbable in a fully cycled tank.
Well that according to API test fluid being light blue and no signs of purple. If I had in expensive digital meter I could probably give you more exact numbers, but I can only go on the API test kit I have.
I am open to suggestions to better testing kits.
