Hello Every one. My name is clay chatten and I found this great forum the other day while doing some reserch on the internet so I thought I would join and get some info from you guys.

Here my deal. I have been a huge aquarium person for years and have had many but lets just say budget and space challenged set ups. I have allways had fresh water and nothing over 50 gallons.

Well I have allways dreamed of getting a large tank and large really cool and different fish. I would love to have a saltwater tank and a shark.

Can you guys here give me some advice and opinions on what size and what cool fish for a salt water tank or a fresh water tank. I am really trying to go for different, large, cool fish.

Also what are peoples thought on fresh water tanks with fish like bass and perch. I live in texas and these fish are easily caught all over in nature.

Thansk for any input hoping to start my dream tank soon

Welcome Clay...

Opinions will vary greatly on what different people consider cool... My best advice is to shop around, see what's out there and ignore everyone else's opinion of what they like and decide what you like best...

If you want saltwater, get saltwater... if you like local fish, keep local fish...

I agree, think about what you would like to have first and foremost. That is the most important thing because they will be your fish. Then decide tank size, how many occupants, etc. Then people can shed some light on whether they think it will work or not and give you some ideas on how to get it to work :D

Ya I would think hard about budget, room, and what fish you want to look at everyday. With big fish like that, chances are they will live for a LONG time with the proper care. I would suggest though for budget purposes freshwater might be good because they have very large fish which u can get at like 30 dollars when they are little. I have a redtail catfish I got for 30 when he was little and Im glad I did. Gotta be prepared though.....
