hey yall, just thought i would introduce myself. im pretty new to the whole fish thing. and also my wife has a big influence to what we have. she doesnt like anything big and ugly or aggressive. im just waiting till i get my own tank.
i have:

55gal: 2 Bosemani Rainbows
5 Congo Tetras
10 Neon Tetras
1 Royal Pleco (MY Pride)
2 Clown Loaches
20gal (wifes only, i have no say)
2 albino white clouds
4 Emperor Tetras (i do like these)
1 Neon
1 Marble SailFin Pleco
10gal: 2 small ryukin (trying to breed)

any ideas on to get my wife to relax and give in a little?

Hahaha.....aye. 55 is still awesome though!!! I want to get some more 55gals so i can grow out my babies with less aggression.

Well, you just have to show her that there are more fish out there than she realizes. There are so many options, and not all of them are aggressive. Beautiful comes to mind actually. Be bold, be daring, experiement....its the only way to go. But try Crenicichla (pike cichlids) first and all your problems will be solved!

well another problem is that i live in hawaii right now and we cant have alot of different fish. basic cichlids and pacu are the most aggressive that we can even buy because of laws.

Bein in hawaii does complicate things...but Crenicichla ARE cichlids...

Thanks fishnutham. yeah i really like my 55gal but it is kinda girly. they are very pretty fish but also real pansies! and Peanut_Power i looked up the Crenicichla and we do not sell those here in Hawaii

Not getting into the influencing the wife thing but your clowns will be happier and more active if you get a couple more, they like being in groups. Also the ryunkins will need more room.

yeah im in the process of converting my 10gal into a 20XH. you know i have heard that about the clown loaches but mine are extremly active.
