Hi everyone, I have two 55g tanks and a 29g. I came here looking at all your threads and builds on large tanks. I hope to build a 1000g when I get a house here (hopefully soon).

Two questions; is it easier to build large tanks out of wood and then fibreglass them and is glass better for a viewing window or is acrlyic?

Well I have built a couple glass tanks and a couple plywood tanks, but never a "monster" tank. I would say though as far as what is "easiest" it is so relative it is hard to answer. If you have the $$$ and have the equipment and manpower to move it I think even at a large size a glass tank is easier than building from wood and then sealing. Large glass tanks become impractible in monster tanks largely due to the cost and inability to handle huge pieces of glass. Same for acrylic.

As far as the viewing window I prefer glass due to cost and I worry about scratching it when installing it. I am sure you could get many different answers to what is better though.
