Hello, I'm from up in Winnipeg, Canada, I've been in the fish hobby now for 20 years, since I was 14 when I got my first guppy. I've now gone overboard in the last 3 years to include 2 180 Gallon tanks, 1 240 gallon tank, 1 110 gallon tank, 1 360 gallon Koi pond ( indoors ) and in the making a 480 Gallon.
My fish include rare pleco's, no Zebra's though
, Rare Syns, to tell you the truth to name all the small fish would talk all day, but lets just say I have 110 gallon Livebearer Planted tank, full to the brim with babies. 180 Gallon with everything from Peacock eels, rope fish, ghost knifes, tonnes of different smaller cats and plecos, angels, even some rare crustacions. My other 180 has 6 Yellow Severums, 1 28 inch South American Lung Fish, 2 12 Inch Tiger Shovel nose cats, 5 8 inch Tinfoil Barbs. My 240 however is my big fish tank, well it ended up that way as my fish outgrew the 180 and now they have outgrown the 240 , thus the reason for the 480 gallon. Anyway enough jabber, in the 240 I have 1 26 inch Marbled Pim Catfish, 1 20 inch Silvewr Arrowana, 1 10 inch Electric Cat, 1 24 inch African Lungfish, 4 12 inch Irridecent sharks, 5 6 inch silver dollars, and 1 10 inch Royal Pleco. For this tank I have to actually use a Koi pond filter for filtration as these bad boys poop quite a bit, but even though it was the cheapest setup for filtration, it works very well, and is easy to clean.
110 is 18x18x6 ft ( I think that makes it a 110? )
180's are 2 ft x 2 ft x 6 ft
240 is 2 ft x 2 ft x 8 ft
480 is 4 ft x 2 ft x 8 ft.
Hope I can find some people that find what I have interesting, and I hope to find some idea's for some new additions.
My goal for the 240 gallon once I boot all those fish into the 480 gallon is to make it into a huge Planted tank with rare Angels or Discus. Something you can sit back and look at and relax.
One of my 180's I want to try something that no one around here has tried, Saltwater, but not warm saltwater, but a cold satwater tank, I have the refrig to keep it around 60* and all the hardware needed for the turnover from fresh to salt, after that I'll be making a trip this summer to BC Canada to see the relitives and maybe bring back some rock covered in some algea and such from the Pacific and bring it back. Then I want to actually, since I am a crustacion fan, is buy 3-4 of those lobsters ( real ones not crays ) and put them in there. I figure, people have them sitting at the store for food, well I'm going to try and see if I can keep 4 alive in a tank, we'll see how that goes, I'll probably also bring back some other stuff from the west coast, but no fish as I am not going to deplete or break any laws.
Anyway nice to be here.
Jeff
