I have eight piranhas in a 125 gal. tank. They are about six months old now. When I put them in the tank the lights would not bother them at all. Now that they are older, as soon as the lights go on, they run and hide. why?
Also if someone could recomend some pellets for them that would be great.
Thanks.

Welcome! As for the lights... Its tough to say but most all p's are sensitive to light. You may want to try some dimmer lighting to help them out. You could also try using some peat to stain the water which makes the light a little less bright. As for pellets you cant go wrong with hikari food sticks! they are amazing and my RBP's love them! Its a good staple diet but make sure to mix in shrimp, white fish, and other healthy meats to keep them healthy. Good luck and hope that helps!

welcum.. and dimmer lites for sure would help but if u dont wana spend to much money u can tint the plastic or even cheaper use some sparypaint but spary jus the rite amount so that the lites still shows.. in my case i did that and put more plants and driftwood that helped alot my p's are always out now no matter if lights are on or off but gudluck

just set ur lights on a timer.. it will make the Ps used to the light coming on and off at the same time everyday..

i have a fairly bright light on my tank right now, and it doens't seem to bother the Ps at all..

thanks for the help, im gonna give the timer a shot and hopefully they get used to the light. and the hikari foodsticks seem like a good way to go.
thanks
