Hello to all of you. First off I just want to say that I am new to MFK and to the hobby in general. I decided a couple years ago that I wanted to add a fishtank to my house because I think they are beautiful. So i started with a 10 gallon and a couple goldfish. Soon I wanted more so my aunt gave me a 20 gallon which I created a very pretty community tank in, but that wasn't enough. So we then bought a 55 gallon which was supposed to be my saltwater tank, however my husband soon started buying rock and decorations for the tank and then we went to the LFS my sister recommended and he saw the clown knife, my dreams of a saltwater setup in this tank were definately over. So we added the knife who was about 5" when we got him, and a catfish that was sold to us as a clown cat but we don't think that is what he is, haven't been able to find one that looks like him yet, but he was about 4", and then a few days later we went to our tried and trusted LFS in another town and I fell in love with a beautiful jack demsey who was about 4" when we got him. Today Mack(the knife) is about 10" and Tank(the cat) is about 6-7 inches. Brutus(jd) is approaching 8" and they will all be moved to a 125 gallon soon. I love my fish and I am striving to one day have a tank that will accomodate a redtail catfish(no i am not so naive as to believe that anything less than a 1500-2000 gallon tank will house this type of fish so that's gonna be a while). Once Mack, Brutus and Tank are in their new home I am going to start my saltwater setup. So if anyone has experience with a saltwater lionfish please feel free to share advise because that is what I really want to eventually keep in a saltwater tank(I'm afraid that will be too large for the 55 gallon am I right?) Husband wants the saltwater to be a reef tank so we will take our time getting this one up and running because I hear the reeftank is not for beginners. Again any advice is welcome and appreciated.

To our family we also plan to add a sand boa because my oldest son is really intrigued by snakes but I don't think I can handle a giant python or anything(no I don't expect my child to be accountable for the care of an animal so since I will be the one taking care of it it's going to be one I can handle). Also a saint bernard(she will be my baby) and a kitten for the middle child because he has wanted a cat since we went to the petstore about a year and a half ago and he fell in love with the little grey ones.

I really love this site and all the great advice. I'll post pics of my catfish soon and see if anyone can identify him(probably not hard because I don't think he is a rare find since we picked him up for about $20 at out LFS).
