Hiya,

I've been away from the hobby for several years but the aquarium bug is biting at me again. Largest aquarium I've kept was a 180 (72x24x24) gallon acrylic, largest fish was a black pacu that was about as big as the tank width.

I'm interested in getting an arowana and a few other larger fish and trying to decide if a 240 gallon (96x24x24) would be big enough. Otherwise, I am tempted to get a 375 gallon (96x30x30) or 300 gallon (96x30x24) acrylic and stand, which would be much more expensive.

There is a used 240 gallon for sale locally, but it has no overflows and has not been drilled, so I don't think it would be a good option. It is a completely setup at a good price though.

Any suggestions? Is the extra 6" in both width and height worth the significant increase in price?

When it comes to Arowana's, width is always preferred rather than height. What species or Arowana are you interested in?

I would like to get a black arowana, but they seem hard to come by. The 96x30x24 acrylic aquarium would be more than $1k less than the 96x30x30 from the site I am pricing them at.
