Hey guys, I'm Ned. I'm 13 and I live in Ipswich, I was keeping fish for a few years, I have 3 900mm tanks which I had one small Barra, 2 Oscars and a heap of Guppys, Platys ect ect. in the other tank. After a while I looked into Pythons, so I sold the Oscars and Platys and all that to a fish shop and put the Barra in my mates dam, he was 15cm when I put him in there last year, he is now nearly 100cm (approx). I now have 3 pythons, 2 Jungle carpet pythons and a Children's python and am about to get a pair of Hypo Coastals or Patternless Children's pythons.

I have a 900mmL, 450D, 500H tank, and I would like to put some Empire and Eastern Spotted Gudgeons in there. I have a heater, filter and I can grab some logs from the yard and disinfect them and use them as "natural" hiding spots and all that. I was looking in fish shops and they were $40 for six! My dad said that the best bet would be to go down to Venman Bushlands or something similar and have a look in the Creeks and Billabongs there for the fish that I'm after.

Since they are easy to breed but very hard to raise fry (apperently) I thought to myself, fish shops probley just catch them aswell. So do you think thats a good idea? Can any of you guys tell me where any other good Billabongs/creeks are to find these guys?

I was thinking 10 of each sort, as they are schooling fish (correct me if I'm wrong).

Any other advice on keeping them would be wonderful,
Thanks!!

Welcome to MFK! Any photos of your tanks?

Welcome aboard, Ned. Unfortunately, I live in the US, so I can't advise you on finding your gudgeons, but there are plenty of other Aussies on here that could probably help you out! On a side note, I love jungle carpets. Had one years ago, and they are just so beautiful. Lucky guy you are to have two. Good luck on your gudgeon search!

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'll try find some photo's of the fish I used to have, give you an idea of the tanks also, and I'll get some of the snakes aswell.

I'm still trying to convince my mother, my dad should be all good with it, only if there all down in his tank. Which suits me good, more room for snakes:)
