I picked this guy up about a month ago and he has quickly become my favorite fish. Im curious as to what he is and how much bigger i can expect him to get. He is currently in a 125 6x1.5x2 with a 12" channel cat. I'm on my way later today to pick up a 200 gallon tank i found for $300 its a 7x2x2 will that be big enough for him? i know the channel will eventually outgrow that tank. But can i keep him and maybe another peacock if i come across one again?

he is about 14". i'm pleased to hear its not one of the bigger species. So there is a good chance my new tank will work out in the long run

The 7x2 could house him for life but ideally you should thinking more along the lines of 8' length and 2.5' depth. That being said, the fish would be fine in the 7x2 as it's a better home than a lot of other people would keep it in.

I wouldn't get more, especially once he's full grown.
