Howdy Folks,

Just joined, new to the site, but not to fish/invert keeping. Looking for some advice, as I've go a new American common snapping turtle coming into my classroom for a short time, and have lots of questions on an ideal set-up.

Looking forward to getting to know some of you over here.

Thanks
Wy Renegade

Welcome to MFK Wy... i had rescued a snapper when it was a baby..they are great pets except for the fact that they grow so big. need a big tank as they grow.. and of course are snappers. i miss mine.. one summer i bought a kiddie pool for him.. thinking he could get some real sunshine instead of just the heat lamp light.. and all was well for about a week.. i would put him out for a few hours a day while i gardened.. well one day he was not there... probably headed for the big swampy area across the street.. i felt so worried that because he was with me for almost 3 years he would not survive in the wild.. but the experienced people said his instincts would take over when he was hungary.. i sure hope so.. he loved zucchini slices ..they do require greens along with pellets, shrimp etc .. you can read all the info here in the forum.... i will give you the link..http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...ptiles-Amphibians-and-Other-Exotic-Pets..Nice to meet you

Red Devil, thanks for the reply. I can see that I'm going to have to learn how to subscribe to threads here on MFK LOL. Anyway, thanks for the link I'll read up on that. I've never grown one as large as it sounds like you did, but they are a cool pet aren't they?

welcome from your neighbor one state south
