Hello everyone! I plan on getting a big tank special made within the next month or so. something Wide is what I would like.
right now I have some mini monsters growing out in a 20l. got my first ever Datnoid and he is in with a Delhezi bichir, and an ornate to grow out. all the fish are eating well and the tiger fish is stable for most of the time. he has some cool patterns on one side I think he is an indo, you can let me know.

here are some pictures

He is kept singly as I can't afford 3 or more of them. so far everyone gets on great!

nice to meet you all, Rafini

Thanks Krichardson Any idea what causes the oddball pattern or is it completely random like on clown loaches?

No problem, the different patterns are random and they usually don't change.

that's great news. can't wait for this little guy to grow up and display those same patterns. when I got him he was stressed so I had no clue of his markings.
If you don't mind me asking, am I correct to assume that these guys grow to 6" pretty quickly and then slow right down? mine currently has a big stomach full of bloodworms

Their growth rate depends on what they are fed and water changes.Good cichlid carnivore pellets are best for getting size on data and most keepers swear by Hikari Massivore Pellets. The bloodworms are okay but your dat will something with a little more mass as it grows so start experimenting with sinking pellets.

Right now i only have shrimp pellet for bichir, and hikari floating cichlid gold. Dat only seems interested in bloodworms right now. I have read you can starve them, but as he is new I wanted to fatten him up first.
