hey guys and girls.
joined today so i could search for rainbow pictures on your forums, and thought i might as well stay!

i'm a 4th year student at Florida International University, doing an English major and a Photography minor. I did a lot of digital wildlife photography from late 2005 to early 2007, but then finances forced me to sell all my digital gear...and then my 35mm gear as well. some of my photographs are available online at my old website www.yaphoto.com if you'd like to see some wildlife (mainly birds) photos...

now i have some questions for you guys. to finish my photography minor I need to take one last photography class, and i am now registered for B/W Photography IV...and i need to pick a theme to concentrate on. I'm at a loss as to what to pick, and today had an idea...

should I photography my fish? i have a 3ft tank with rainbows, an angel pair, and a couple other fish. i'm obssesed with them and think they are the greatest fish in the world, but...

1) is there really a way to make B/W photographs of fish be interesting? since i can't showcase their colors, i guess i'd be concentrating more on their antics, behavior and/or distinct physical traits?

2) if you think i should choose fish as a theme, what lens would you recommend? right now all i have is a Canon 50mm 1.4 lens, but i'm thinking of either a 100mm f/2.8 macro (which i've used), a 60mm f/2.8 macro, or adding a canon 500d macro lens or something similar on to the 50 1.4 so i can shoot in the relative low-light of the tank without flash...what do you say?

any other comments you have are welcome as well!:-)

hi...i apologize for that. i've just checked with FireFox, Flock, Opera, Chrome, and Safari and the website doesnt load the flash image viewer in ANY of them :-o

if you have Internet Explorer give that a try, that's the only browser right now that seems to show it. tonight i'll look into what is probably very poor html code that only IE can interpret and hopefully fix the issue...

in the meantime, any comments as to my questions above?
