i got a salwater tank and i use 1.03 salinity and i use a Hydrometer
that can test ( 1.00 - 1.02 - 1.03 - 1.04 )

so what is the Brackish water salinity ?

and can this Hydrometer test it ?

and btw my tank is new now i got it full fresh water and i tryed this Hydrometer and it readed less than 1.00
and i am making Brackish water for the Archer fish and lion fish or called toadfish

sorry guys for all this questions i am just new

Are the fish currently in the tank? Brackish water ranges from fresh to marine, it will depend more on the fish at what salinity you want to keep it at. But fluctuations will not matter as much. Be more worried about killing your bb than your fish.

here is the story i bought 2 archers and one toadfish then i put them in my fresh water Tank but when i opened our lovely Forums i found that it is better to make a Brackish water Tank for them thats it last thing what do you mean with bb :)

Biological bacteria. The fish are extremely adaptable to fluctuating water conditions compared to other fish. But the bacteria in your filter remains the same and has to adapt slowly to changing salinity. Your fish will be fine in freshwater for a while longer so my advice would be to slowly bring your salinity up to around 1.005. I would recommend moving about +.001 per week. I don't think there is a set salinity for most brackish fish as their environments are always changing.
And just a warning my toadfish eat any fish that will fit in there mouth and then some - be careful with your archers

what species of toadfish do you have? some of them are best in salt water and some are best in brackish and a select few are best in freshwater. i am getting a species that can be kept in brackish but fares best in freshwater. not sayin your wrong on puttin him in brackish just wonderin on the species...
