Hi, new here, and possessing computer skills that would be the envy of average to semi-bright chimps everywhere, have tried two posts and one thread to introduce myself, so far without success. However, if I do have a long suit, it would likely be persistence (learned that from my red footed tortoise, who will hold out indefinitely for fruit, ignoring his greens; he, in turn, learned this trick from my daughter, or the other way around, can't recollect who came first. Anyway, for further intro stuff, see my profile, as basically it's there, for any still awake and reading. So, that said, on to a brief question; has anyone tried Purigen Ultimate Filtration media; it claims to clear 100g per bag, is a polymer, rather than an ion exchange resin, and is rechargeable. The big thing for me, though, is that is claims to clear ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. This would be great for my Malawi tank, as they tend to be very sensitive to nitrate, and the others, of course, but while I keep nitrates low by 20% water changes twice a week (BTW, anyone happen to know who I write to in order to nominate the inventor of the Python for a Nobel Prize, offhand?, I am old enough to remember the pre-python hernia days), I am away at the cottage often during the summer, so if this thing actually comes close to working as promised, it would save me a whole lot of commuting. Any info would by most welcome, and, assuming that I manage to post this, nice to meet everyone, looking forward to this site greatly.----rick
