Hi Everyone, Im Alan D., I just joined today. I found this site looking for info on my fish who appear to be slightly ill.

I have had a an African Cichlid Tank on and off for about ten years. My current set-up is about 4 yrs old. I only have about 10 fish, mixed, in a 38 gallon tank. They all get along fine, some yellow labs, peacocks, a rusty or two. Pretty simple. My problem is this. Out of no where, the fish look pale, they are hanging out at the surface of the water, and a couple of them appear to have whiteness and pitting on the sides of there bodies. Im assuming its ICK. I started a treatment yesterday (cant think of the name of the stuff, its blue drops in a small brown bottle)
Does this sound like ICK to you guys? Any help is appreciated. ! Thanks, looks forward to being here!
Alan

Lesions are unusual in ich but salt grain or sugar grain looking white dots are classic, it is common for early stages not to show so your new fish could have easily infected the tank.

The fish look a bit livelier after just two treatments. They lesions just sort of look like their fins are whitish, as if they peeled in certain areas. No redness at all, and no bumps. But they are doing better, not hanging at the top like they were. Appetitie is so-so too. Im not bringing home fish from Petco anymore, its the only change that was made to the tank recently, so what else could it be. Thanks for trying to answer the questions on my vague description. I’ll be around.
