GTA near Toronto
I bought a 125 gallon tank this week. I am using a Eheim 2217 for now but would like to build my own sump filter. I did the design that I see in the sticky section for the over the top siphon.

I made the siphon with 1.5 in pipe. Should I use .75 in return? As well I see in local hardware (home depot etc) Sump with 1/6 hp that pumps out 1200 gph. Is that too powerful and where can I find smaller sumps in GTA (Toronto area)

Reason for buying the big tank was for my Burundi Frontosas they are small now but need room to grow.

A 1/6 HP pump will kill your electric bill.. And it will be running 24/7.......... Check your local fish stores for Aquatic pumps... All pet stores.. Pet Smart, Pet Co, And others should have something that doesn't run like a basement SUMP..They are more quiet also..... :)

the first thing you need to do is figure out what pump/gph you are going to use. Some pumps at home depot are not fish safe because of lubercates used and a lot are not ment for 24/7 use.

Once you have a pump picked out it will have a certan size output use that size to run back to the tank. For you overflow, make sure that 1.5" flows enough to keep up with the pump, it probably will given the size of your tank.

And another great point... :)
