Just wanted to introduce myself. Medically retired military in my mid 30's. I've maintained Salt reef tanks and discuss tanks up to 90gal. I just started my first SA/CA cichlid tank, 75g. I'm running cascade 1000 with my own filtration and I'm adding a above tank filter this week. This is my first go ever with cichlids. Currently I have a 5" silver Arowana (I believe male), 2 2" electric blue jacks d's, 2 2"cichlids that have a yellow black cheetah pattern that were only listed as assort. SA cichlids that are very passive, a 4" dragon goby, a 3" blood parrot and a few size appropriate plecos and cats. I'll be moving to Florida,my home next year and plant to move the Arowana to a home built outdoor pond. I plan to adopt out any cichlids that don't get along as they grow or move to seperate tanks. I plan to but 2-6 more size appropriate cichlids in as I do more research. It's been about 2 wks and everyone is currently doing great, eating and getting along with no problems. I've been reading on the boards for awhile but now look forward to being an active and learning member. If anyone has recommendations for bright cichlids I'm very open to opinions and help. The tank has a lush plant, floating suspended and settled driftwood population with adequate slate rock for dwelling. Thanks in advance!!

welcome:)

Welcome fellow service member!

The two Arowana will be cause for comment....brace yourself.
I guess I'll do it.
That aro won't last a year in the 75 gallon.

Edit: I read that wrong. Next year is 4 weeks lol. Just know the aro won't last long in there.

welcome to MFK, glad you picked a silver aro...pretty sure every other species is illegal in FL haha.
