Where the heart is!!!
Got a male hystrix in a couple days ago. As soon as I open the bag, this lil guy was flailing around his tail trying to stick anything! He was showing some front curl a little and after I acclimated him and put him in the tank (during which his stinger got caught in the net), he kept his front tip up and I really thought he was not going to make it. I put him in the big tank as I recently changed the substrate in the 120 to a PFS and I did not want any adverse reactions. I could've also placed him in a 55 but because of his condition, I thought I should go ahead and put him in the big tank as it is the most ideal environment for him. Anyway, he is now eating and settled in with his new ray mates. Here are some pics...

Oh and the worst waterspots. I was moving some things around and was too lazy to clean the glass afterwards. Sorry:grinno:

Keep pumping him with blackworms and you should be good. i got 5 hystrix over the last month or so and everyone had a day or two of nervous adjusting and breathing funny and they all seem to just come through after a couple days.

Not to derail my on thread but how large is your hystrix Turkeyboy? Saw a video of that beauty and he/she is awesome!

Glad he pulled through!!!

That's good to here that at least one of the Hystrix is doing well. They are such kick ass rays! I soooo want a pair.

I actually lost him about 2-3 months ago.... he was a good 12" my male leo and male motoro kept picking on him so i moved him into my 150 and low and behold when i moved him... my fx5 decided to fall off the tank and spray water all over the floor in the middle of the nite, i wake up the next morning and he was dead with about 40 gallons left in the tank... He was also oozing some redish stuff out of his anus and we decided it was a bacterial infection and with all the stress he didnt make it ..... I sure do miss him.... :'(

Not just one! Here is an update of my lil female I got toward the middle/end of December. She was maybe 2.5-3in. Now she eats very well on chopped nightcrawlers. The pics aren't that great but you get the idea.
