Hey guys these are my new id sharks! I know a lot about these fish and i am prepared to take care of them till they reach 5 feet :) When i was placing them in the tank of the the barbs got stuck in the net so one has a broken barb :( Tell me what you guys think?

Excellent. GL with them. Should be ~1'-2' in 1-2 years (results vary a lot for different keepers). I admire your optimism but doubt they will reach 5 feet. 2'-3' is the most common max for MFKs. They need ideal conditions, champion-size genes, and lots of years to reach 4'. 5' is almost (almost) a fairy tale even among fishermen's catches.

If the barb didn't bleed, should be fine and grow back no problem.

Thanks guys! yeah the barb was not bleeding so we will see if he makes it. I cant wait till these guys become giants!:D

When I ran a fish rescue, these were common among private owners wanting to unload and as trade-ins at LFSs. One time, I picked up nine 2-footers from a store in central NY - Eddy's Aquarium, Albany, $30 each. If you can't wait, young jedi, look for the unwanted ones. But growing them from babies really completes the experience.

Thanks i question i tried feed them to night and the freaked out swimming super fast around the tank is this normal? I know they are sensitive to lights and movements but they total ignored the blood worms and swam around all crazy..

They are a nervous, sensitive fish. I assume this is their first night in the new tank and water. They are adjusting. It's normal. If they don't eat in 1-2 weeks, then I'd worry. It is typical of them: they are not hiders, they swim and dart nervously around when stressed. When not stressed, they just swim around at various speeds and in various patterns ... lol

Yeah even in a pond They might hit 3foot if your lucky and they are fed good with awesome water quality. But If you did want something that would have a better chance of hitting 5 to 6 feet that look simmaler I would look for a proonshark. But still nice pick up man! :)
