i everyone, i just joined the forum MonsterFishKeeper. i live in France and it's actually the lockdown so i desided to join the forum :).
i own a 200L bear botom tank with 3 tiger fish from the island of borneo in indonesia i think but not sure in japanese they call it ダトニオプラスワン ( they still small but i wanna grade up soon ). they must be captive bread. they are already trained whith pellets.
they are not stable at all and i was wondering if it's could be better to feed them with frozen food for changing there deit. would you have any advises ? what type of frozing food or if i feed them with them ones will they stop eating pellets ?
thanks for your consideration.
kind regards

Welcome aboard
Personally would just feed the Siamese Tiger fish pellets until they got larger but that's my choice. Pellets have all the fish needs and frozen fish lacks the vitamins that is crucial for healthy fish. Others will chime in with their opinions.

thank you for your reply and advice. i will continue to feed them with pellets. they are hiding the most part of the time. they just show up when its time feeding. my tank has trickle filtration system plus a internal filtration. i am doing 20 % water change 2 times a week. should i change somethings ?
kind regards
PS: sorry if i do speeling mistakes :)

Usually unstable with water issues, illness or tankamtes. Would continue with the pellets. Check ur water parameters.

Welcome to the fishy family!

We can't say for sure your tanks water change schedule. We can give a suggestion but the best way to find your schedule is thru testing.

Do you have a test kit? If so test your water after a water change. Then test before your next water change. You can then find out how much nitrates you tank gains over time. With this you come up with a schedule to keep your nitrates at the level you want, knowing that if you do a 50% water change you remove 50% of the nitrates in your water. Most shoot for 20ppm or less I tend to keep mine at 10ppm. In the wild most fish live in 0ppm.

I have a single male Amphilophus Sagittae (10inch) in a 125gal tank. I feed him twice a day, skipping Sunday's.The tank has 2x AC110's that gets cleaned weekly, I do fin level (85%) water changes every third day to keep my nitrates below 10ppm.

thank you for your tought i will consider buying a water test. do you have a favorite ones or should i buy the cheapest ? I was told that the stable issues is due to the quality of the fish it self. i was told that by keeping a bear bottom it's will be easy for the maintenance
You have a very nice fish, so is this a platinium or just the basic color ? i do not have a big knowledge so thank you for your comprenhension.
kind regards

Most of us use the API Freshwater master test kit.
It come with
Ammonia test
Nitrite test
Nitrates test
Hi and low range PH test

On the subject of bare bottom tanks. Yes its is easier to keep clean. But in doing so you greatly reduce the area you can have beneficial bacteria growing and living. The good BB don't just grow in your filters. It grows on every surface inside the water colum. With sand or gravel substrate you have much more area for it to grow, creating a more stable tank.

Ok thanks for your advices there is some pictures of my tank (more like a plastic top ) that i am using to house fish.
the pictures have been taken after feeding time so there some poop and food which are left. the fish just kow up at feeding time and unfortunatly it's hard to take good footages of them. it's also appear that the fish look more stable at feeding time.
I used have a gigant anubias in the tank but the leaf start to rot, did you already face issues like this before and if you have any recommendation. i will be very thankful.
kind regards
