Hi everyone, my name is Erica and I just acquired a 55g from a friend that could not keep it, and the fish it contains anymore. And I am FREAKING OUT!!! It’s huge.. My interpretation of a fish tank before this, was a 10g with fish no bigger than an inch. So I'm going to need lots of help.. lots!

Stock list:
3 Blood Parrots
3 Convicts (did not know this at the time)
and 1 algae eater, it's huge!! lol
(I wouldn't have put fish size, I just didn't know any better)

I will feed them fish flakes, because I don't have any knowledge that any other type of fish food exists... *this would have been a thought, but a truthful one*

Well... I never did one when I came here... I guess I can kind of do one.

My name is Steve

I started collecting fish back in 1990. Got hooked on Plecos right off the bat. In my peak(1994) I had 26 fish tanks with over 300 fish(100 were plecos). However working 10 hour days and coming home to spend hours maintaining my tanks proved too much for me. Within the first year I dropped down to 17 tanks and from there slowly dropped down to 3 (2003). However my 190gallon cracked which left me with the next 2 big ones(125 and 80).

After I got married, the wife made me tear down the 80(it was in the bedroom). Later we set up a 20 in the dining room. Then we moved to a new house(smaller). The wife would not allow the 125 to come. So I traded it for a 55(with a friend). Then later another friend just gave me a 75(with the fish).

The wife was ok with a pond but since getting laid off, I couldn't afford to buy one so we got a cheap index pool...which worked ok until the ring cracked.

Not many around from '05 any more. :(

i browsed in '06 but didn't become a member until '07

i first seen the mfk logo on youtube, that was the first time ever for me hearing about mfk

I remember stalking around the gallery in '05, took me a few years to get around to joining though.
anyway....
I'm Colin, I've been keeping fish since I was a small child and at one time I had up to six tanks full of South American cichlids and oddballs. Now I'm down to just two tanks but I also work at my lfs and volunteer at my local public aquarium. Next year I am planning on going to school to pursue a degree in aquarium science.
