Hey everyone! I'm quite excited because this is my first JD. So far everything is going great. My onle real concern is my Firemouth because he's not much of a fighter. My Con on the otherhand can hold her own.

Anything I should know or look out for with these guys?

Yes, I purposely bought my JD the same size as the other 2 for that reason.

In my opinion the Firemouth will not hang long term. I have had them and they were never too aggr. Maybe try a Salvini in there?

As stated above,the Firemouth will eventually get bullied,try a jag or another cichlid in there,by the way how big is your tank???

They'd be ok for a bit now, but eventually, that FM will probably get bullied out of the tank. The size of your tank could really determine a good replacement.

I think I'll eventually get rid of my FM and just sick with the Con and JD. It's only a 55G.

how fast do jacks grow.. i recued some of my mate. thereabout 1.5" and he had them at tht size 3 months ago .. i think he stunted there growth cus of the tank they wer housed in.

I've heard they're slow growers.
