Good luck with the new jag. My breeding jags at work have been pumping out a bunch of fry the last few months. It is pretty wild watching the female lay eggs and care for them. Their third batch of fry just swam up from the gravel this morning. I hooked the fry up with their first feeding of Hikari first bites food. This food is great for the first week or two of feeding before switching over to finely crushed flake food and then frozen cubes of daphnia. Watching the stages of growth between the batches of fry is interesting.
I have three other jags at home (one male 6.5" and two females around 5 inches). The male has spawned with both of them within a few days. No fry have survived from this odd pairing as the male enjoys eating eggs and newly hatched fry.
