Order several... let them pair off themselves and rehome the rest

Agree with this, if it were me, I'd get 5 or 6 to offer choices when pairing up. The last timeI order Parachromis (La Ceiba) I ordered a dozen, hoping to end up with at best one or two pair.

When just getting two, a male and female, that doesn't mean they will be compatible and/or chances of one killing the other is high.
The more choices you offer, the better chance you will end up with pair where the female is not killed.

One other thing, jaguars (Parachromic managuense) are not South American, they are from Nicaragua and other parts of Central America.

Cichlids of the Americas is a good reputable vendor especially for Cichlids.
I agree, the La Ceiba in the photos above, are from COA.
Wet Spot on the west coast of the U.S. is also excellent, as is Dave's Rare Fish in Texas.
I have ordered fish from all 3 (among others) of the above, and all 3 were 1st rate.

thanks for all the help what are your opinions on imperal tropicals and live aquaria
Never ordered from either them.
BTW, for something as common as Parachromis managuense, I usually went to one of my local fish club auctions, swap meets, or members (Milwaukee Aquarium Society, or the Greater Chicago Cichlid Assn).
At auctions I could usually get a bag of common j5 or 10 uvie jags for under $5, at swap meets for around the same price, or a little more, or in a trade with other breeder members.
In the late 80s when I had breeding managuense, I would take 10 bags of 10 juvies in each bag to auctions, and if I got more than $2 a bag, I was happy, it paid for my gas to the auction, and maybe a new bag of fish I hadn't tried yet.
