i saw a 2 inch jardini at the lfs for 30.00 and just had to get it. i have him in a forty gallon with a 2.5 - 3" african tiger fish and a 4-5" weeksii bichir. i was wonderin are jardini's hardy then the other aro's? could someone help me out with some info about the jardini and some personal experiences with his aggression eatting habits, how they are? anything in general would be much helpful. tryin to keep him with the atf all their lives if possible. :grinyes:

what you mean?!??

I'm just kidding. they are cool fish but I think they need to be housed alone.

In all honestly I think it will outgrow and beat the **** out of your ATF.

I had a beautiful jardini, really beautiful. Flecks of pink all over, nice dark scales, and a bleu greeny tail with bright pink spots. Around 9 inches. I sold it yesterday because it just suddenly started dishing out beatings to all my fish. They are pretty, but quite savage.

Mine was fine at first, for ages no problems, no aggression then suddenly it turned and ripped up a red snakehead and pbass.

I just got a baby sliver instead.

i was wonderin tho. dont african tiger fish start showing aggression as they get older too? i mean i saw the jardini nip at the atf. and they went face to face since then the jardini has been on defense ever since. well hopefully it will last cuz i dont have another tank as of now. are they hardy fish?

Mine was very hardy. Even in a tank that got ick, he was fine, even when he was moved about he never lost his appetite. When being transferred from ROwater to hard water he ate within 30 minutes.

I have no first hand experience with ATFs, I recently got a 2.5 incher but that's my first.

They are not meant to be aggressive unless it's to their own species or something small enough to be food.

And more importantly jardinis grow quicker than ATFs, so if they are the same size now in a few months your jardini will be twice the size.

If I were you I'd buy another tank or decide which one you prefer because I bet sooner or later the jardini will whack the ATF. Not necessarily eat it, just rip it up.

I agree wid em. Ders nottin worse dan a permmantly damaged or disfigured fishY.

well. i value ATF over the jardini. right now the atf is about a inch longer and just maybe a quarter inch thicker. if it wont work. ima just return the jardini to the fish store for some credit or something. since their both babies. growing up together wont have any influences on them? thanks.

no it won't. The jardini I had grew up with my peacock bass then one day started beating the **** out of it. They are just not a friendly fish at all. With people or fish. With some fish it does make a difference if they grow up with a fish, not with a jardini.

My jardini was beautiful, an impressive fish for sure, I just don't think they are very good aquarium fish.

If I were you I would sell or return the jardini unless you want to end up with just a jardini in a tank.
