Hi, i will be getting a new juranese catfish due to the fact i cant afford a Tigrinus lol (dont really want to spend the money). I have done lots of research on the tigrinus but i cant find much information on the Juranese. I plan on using this Juranese as a culling machine as well as ornamental fish for my fish room. Do Juranese need large amount of currant like the tigrinus? or will they be fine with 3000 GPH? It will be going in a 300 for a grow out.

Juruense* :)

The husbandry for the two species us basically the same. Lots of do2 is critical, likes heavy, steady laminar flow; not violent rough water. Jurs will get slightly larger and thicker than tigs as well.

I think juruense cats are one of the most under rated fish in this hobby. They're diamonds in the rough; brown and basic when little, but they color up fabulously when they get bigger.

I just got a new one as well. They're amazing fish. :)

Plenty is written and reported on jurs. I am guessing you are not finding much because you are rather badly misspelling their name, as Rob hinted above.

I also agree that tig and jur care and husbandry are similar.

It's kind of like jardini compared to leichardti lol
LOL. I have both. which part do you mean? do jurs kill other tankmates just because they piss them off just by the sight? or in value wise?

Great. thanks so much lol. ive been spelling it wrong so i couldnt find any info. I have about 10x gph shooting straight down creating a steady current so i think i will be fine. i'll just need to add more air. does anyone have any difficulty getting it on pellets? I dont plan on feeding pellets when its larger, i just have alot laying around because i broke down alot of tank from my fish room so i have alot of spare food. i feed seafood to my rays.

Care is basically identical. Have you ever looked into Slobbering Cats (formerly Goslinia Platynema; IDK the revised Latin)? Now THAT'S a cool catfish that flies under most people's radars.

If a jur doesn't take a pellet, I think it's hard to make it. Many start doing so on their own though, especially as they grow and if the pellets are thrown in together with fish / fleshy food for a long while (fish for the jur and pellets for tank mates, for instance).

Well I think each would represent a different one, but for one, in both cases the more expensive one is known to grow slightly longer while the less expensive one is usually shorter and more stocky. Two, in both cases the more expensive one also happens to be lighter colored.

However I hear tigs are more aggressive so they'd represent the jar in that case lol. Few quick things off the top of my head

I thought lei is more aggressive than jardini, no? IDK much about lei, never had one.
