Hey guys,

Recently got a HBRTG (around 8 inch or so)
Eats perfectly and has no other problems except for when he swims!
He seems to tilt slightly when he swims, especially when the tank lights are off.

With tank lights on he doesn't seem to tilt as much but sometimes he will still tilt slightly when he swims.

He has been in my tank for 2 weeks now, tank mates include a small 3-4inch pbass, small flagtail, clown loaches and a red tail black shark~
I'm running two FX5's in the tank, and water is good.

I've been told he is probably still scared and trying to settle in, what do you guys think?

Thanks,
Swarsh

i heard about this before i dont know if its relevant with your situation but ive heard sometimes aro's will swim sideways or upside down if it sees light on the bottom or etc. personally ive never seen it before but ive heard multiple cases like this & usually it was fixed by removing what ever light that was on the bottom or side and keeping the lights on top of the tank on. unless you aro was in a cramped tank before and is used to swimming a bit tilted it should fix itself soon when he realized hes in a bigger tank unless u have him in a small tank.... or if hes nose diving then i dont know what to say most cases of nose diving ive seen the aro died a couple to a few days later. but none of this is proven just some stuff ive heard before

Nah hes not nose diving he swims normal but just tilts to the left slightly.
This aro was in a much smaller tank before i got him and in that tank it was bare base, no background cover etc.
I have white sand, bogwood, black background and lights on top!

So he will just fix himself?

Thanks,
Swarsh

if its the case of tank cramping it should fix itself over time. my jar was like that too when i first got him & now hes perfectly fine.

if you dont like it just give him to me :D lol hahaha i will gladly take over ownership of the hbrtg! :D:naughty:

Yeah I'll probably try lights off for a few days!
I was watching him at night yday and found that he is much more skittish at night with no light so I'm guessing he is just scared!

As for him being blind, I don't think thats the case!

Thanks for your input guys,
Swarsh

One of my earlier victims did this. recovered fully in a few days. but died two weeks later. wouldn't eat.

its the reflection of the lights from the room or windows at night, my aro was the same when she was smaller, shes a heck of a lot bigger now and sometimes still does it but not all the time... being small and skitish plays a large part of why he/she would do it, goes away with size......

Ahh I see,
I was thinking it might of been reflection too!
because as night, when the lights are off there is normally a small room light that stays on 24/7 so that might be the cause..!

thanks for the input!
Swarsh
