Well I have been hand raising a litter of three abandoned kittens for the last several weeks. Being that they were only two weeks old when they were brought to me, my first priority was a physical assessment, and medications (Since they had severe conjunctivitis, and upper respiratory infections, not to mention their internal core temp was below 98 degrees - Kittens should have a temp around 102 degrees). My last priority was naming the buggers, lol. Buuut considering they are all Blue Longhair Domestics, it got confusing during feedings and potty times so I had to really study them for an hour or so and come up with nicknames for them. Didn't want to get them used to a particular name because the adopter might have wanted to change it, so it basically came down to naming them after traits or personalities.
Peanut - was the little girl, a tiny thing at first and super sweet, total snuggle butt. (She got adopted last weekend!!)
Chubs - Is one of the males. He is a total piglet and will inhale anything you put before him. He started off as the biggest of the three, and the one with the largest appetite. However, now it's just funny because the other two shot ahead of him weight wise and he ended up being the smallest!!! Kinda like callin' a 300lb gangster "Tiny" now, because now Chubs is the runt. Hahaha.
Spaz - Well that name is pretty self explanatory. He is the second male and got his nickname because he was a total spaz the first few weeks I had him. He was so desperate for food (Bottle) that he would climb over the one who was feeding, and claw at their face, try to knock them off the nipple and scream like a human baby would. It was actually dam funny but we had to start feeding him first because he got so crazy. He would also whip his tail around like a propeller whenever I made him go potty (at that age you have to manually stimulate them to void their bladders and bowels - that's why mother cat's lick them there.) Well he hated the wipes and would always cry and twist and scratch you to hell - even though he would be peeing the whole time. It was ridiculous, he would go crazy and then get totally still while going to the bathroom - then when it stopped or paused, he would go crazy on you again. So yea, he was definitely a "Spaz". Thank God he has calmed down now. Now that they are on solid foods and are litter box trained he is just all about playing now.
I'd say just watch them interact with each other and with you. I am pretty sure that eventually they will do something and the name will just pop out. Plus then it will be funnier because there will be a reason behind that name.
