After mysteriously losing my beloved new Clown Knife, I went to the LFS today in search of a suitable replacement. Cut to the cheese - no CKs. So after walking all the tempting aisles, I found a very interesting possibility - a Trumpet Knife (Rhamphichthys Marmoratus). I'd only heard of them mentioned a few times and it sure is a beauty as well as really cool looking.
It was a trade-in a couple weeks ago due to it's size, they advised. It's 10+ inches and likes to spend it's time laying on it's side on the bottom. VERY disconcerting...
So I paid the $15.99 for it, picked up a Discus on sale for $8.50 and a ferret. (As I posted over in the Cichlid forum, the ferret is the only one that looks out of place in the tank, but don't let anyone tell you they can't swim.
)
The trumpet is on feeders, but I'll see what I can do to modify that behavior ASAP.
I *really* miss my CK, I'll NEVER find one like that again.
