new knives for the n00b

CHEERS! hello, im a n00b here to this forum but have taken the time to read all previous posts and topics and im happy to be able to join! i bought 2 brown knife fish just earlier today and i wanted to know if their was a problem with keeping them with small malwai cichlids. i have 2 in the same tank. they seem alright as of now but wanted to know if anyone has kept theese 2 species together b4 and what came out of this.

also, if anyone has pics of their knives id love to see them.

Are you refering to African Knives or Brown Ghost Knives?

I wouldn't keep a knife fish with africans. The africans would most likly do a number on the knife fish.

they were advertised as brown knives but i now think they are african knife fish.
they look exactly like this pic posted above, this is the African knif correct?

oh and, i removed the cichlids and put them into another setup also so no worries.

I had a brown knife until a heater messed up and fried him. He was brownish gray color and the African is a gray.
Good luck with what ever you have. They are worth a tank of their own. My brown was in a community tank with Australian Rainbows, Cory Cats, female Bettas, Tetras, Gourami and African Feather Fin.... with no problems.

I now have two clown knives in a larger tank. They are the coolest fish I have ever owed. Some pic"s of my two boys.
