So I got 5 new Kuhli Loaches (pangio oblonga) from my LFS for free! They were shipped by mistake and are taking up tankspace, so the manager gave me dibs.

One thing I have noticed is that most "good" caresheets say that the kuhli's eating snails is a myth, but I have directly observed mine eating snails. They don't eat shell and all, but instead pull them out of the shells. Anyone else see this or do I just have deranged kuhlis?

It's possible the kuhlis could have been starved halfway to death or the snails themselves are dying. Pics please? I have not observed this with mine especially as the kuhlis along with the dojo have been exposed to snails of all ages.

i had kuhulis in my mystery snail breeding tank and they used to suck the baby snails out of the shell it was cool to watch but i only ever see them eat realy small snails

Thanks for the replies guys. I haven't noticed this in the past few days so I'm assuming the "new shipment" meant that they had not had a hearty meal for a while. When they were doing it, it was the smaller ramshorns only. Now they are getting good amounts of algae wafers, shrimp pellets, and whatever the veggie of the day I throw in to vary up the diet.

I've never had either kuhli or dojos go at snails esp. compared to the few botias I've had

yes mine does [ i thinks it my loach doing it unless its my bullhead ] but there is always empty shells and trust me i feed him plenty
