This is my first post here. Please excuse the bubbles in the pictures, they were taken right after a water change. Anyway, here are some pictures of a new to me L114. Is currently 7” to 8” eating shrimp and adjusting well to the tank. My question is, can anyone tell if this is a male or female by these pictures by any chance. Thanks for stopping by.

A great website to learn more info about rare catfish is Planet Catfish

In the image I have attached, the male is below and the female is above. As you can see, the male has a streamlined, "normal" pleco shape whereas the female has more of her body in the centre- for carrying the eggs. Males also can have more growth on fins.

Hope this helps

I've found most pseudacanthicus can be sexed by the shape of the adipose fin. Zooming way inn on your first picture, I'm thinking it's a male. Take a clear picture of the side showing the adipose and we should be able to confirm.

I’ll be doing a water change this weekend and I will get a picture then. Thanks again for responding as well. I’ll be interested to know, not that it matters as I won’t be breeding. I’ll also get a picture of it in its spot under the driftwood. Seems to be happy, looks well fed, eats shrimp. I’ll put some veggie wafers in there too sometimes, or with fresh cucumber every now and then.
