hi guys my new fish tank is all ordered and on its way the filters are here and the lighting is sorted. the tank itself is 72x24x30(LxDxH) 2 canister filters with total of 3000lph turn over and uv steriliser and 4 t8 tubes is the setup. planning on having 1 corner with lots of flat rock creating plenty of caves and a sand substrate, might get fancy and build a raised plant bed not too sure yet. my projected stock list is as follows and this is what i want opinions on please,

2x motoro stingrays
1x pictus cat
1x colombian shark
2x red shoulder severum
6x red hook silver dollar
12x denisoni barb

poss also

albino tiger oscar
tiger shovelnose cat
both of which are from my current setup.
maybe a group of 4 geo's

im looking for views from people who may have kept a similar setup or worries on compatibility from anyone really

many thanks, dan

6x2 footprint isn't big enough for 1 ray, and especially not 2. Other than that your main stocklist looks good. Id add the oscar but not the TSN. They get huge and will outgrow your tank and eat most if not all of your other fish. The Geos sound ok too.

Not a problem with getting rid of the ten was thinking I need something that will occupy the top if the tank due to the height and was considering a pair of spotted gars. Any other ideas?

ditch the colombian shark, when they get closer to adulthood they have to go to brackish water or they'll get skin infections and die

If the tank is only 2' wide than that does kind of limit what size fish you can get away with, I know the rays would be okay in there for a while but they really need 3' of width.
I have a 3' wide tank and everyone keeps suggesting rays to me (which i dont want to keep) other than that I know not a lot about them.

have you considered getting true parrot cichlid or perhaps a Chocolate cichlid? very similar to severums but abit larger and something different :)
as for the cats? Lima shovelnose would be perfect.

Here is some info on the Motoro to help u decide if u still wanna keep 2 in ur tank, also like NCStateFisher already stated Colombian sharks will need brakish water. TSN will also get too big. Spotted gars reach sizes of 24" in captivity. Needlenose gars reach 16" and P. hystix r around 14" if u want smaller of those species. Other then that u could add more CA/SA cichlids to the mix like texas or GT
Maximum Size (Disc Width): appx. 30"+, females get larger.
Juvenile Tank Footprint: 60"x18"
Adult Tank Footprint: 96"x48"
